Mizoram recorded 52.62 per cent voter turnout till polling for its lone Lok Sabha seat concluded on April 19,
election officials said.
It's a passable record for the state which has usually struggled with lower voter turnout in Parliamentary elections compared to Assembly polls.
Polling in Mizoram concluded at 5 pm. However, voters who entered the polling area before 5 pm were allowed to cast their votes after the deadline, they added.
The government declared a holiday for government servants and paid holiday for private sector employees to ensure they exercised their voting rights in the elections.
Mizoram, which has 8.56 lakh voters, including 4.4 lakh female voters, had recorded 63.13 per cent voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
