In Chhatttisgarh, where polling took place amid tight security, a policeman deployed on election duty allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service weapon in Gariaband district during the day. Polling began in Kanker, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituencies at 7 am and was held in different time slots. A turnout of 72.13 per cent was registered till 5 pm, an election official said.

An estimated 70.6 per cent of 77.26 lakh voters exercised their franchise in five Lok Sabha seats in Assam till 5 pm on Friday, election officials said.
The turnout was expected to increase as those in queue before 5 pm would be allowed to vote, they said. Polling began at 7 am and no untoward incident was reported so far. Darrang-Udalguri Lok Sabha seat recorded the highest turnout of 72.9 per cent, followed by Nagaon (71.84), Karimganj (71.12), Diphu (69.62) and Silchar (53.06).

"Polling is going very smoothly, we are monitoring it from the control room and whatever issues that we had related to EVMs we have already resolved that... In shadow areas, we are using radio and wireless communications. Polling begins for 3 Lok Sabha seats in northern West Bengal
Polling began at 7 am on Friday for the three constituencies in northern West Bengal in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The polling, being held in Darjeeling, Balurghat and Raiganj constituencies, would continue till 6 pm. A total of 47 candidates, including state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar, are in the fray for the three seats, with 51.17 lakh people eligible to decide their fate.
