A total of 20 constituencies across the four eastern Indian states are poised to cast their votes today. Assam will see contests in four constituencies, while Bihar will contribute five seats to the electoral fray. Chhattisgarh is set to have polls in seven constituencies, and West Bengal will witness voting in four parliamentary segments.

A voter turnout of 46.69 per cent was recorded till 3 pm in the five Lok Sabha seats of Bihar in the third phase of the general elections.

Voting in 9,848 polling stations in Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura and Khagaria seats, all currently held by the NDA, began at 7 am amid tight security and will continue till 6 pm.

The four Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam, where polling was underway on Tuesday in the third phase, recorded a voter turnout of 63.08 percent till 3 pm.

Dhubri recorded the highest polling percentage of 65.51 per cent, followed by Barpeta (65.20), Kokrajhar (63.64) and Guwahati (57.47) till 3 pm. Polling began at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm.

Doctor says, "He passed away in the morning...This happened where he was posted. He was rushed to PHC where he was declared dead. Body has been brought here to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. His relatives were informed and they too have reached here. Postmortem has been done. It was found that he was diabetic."
