Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the renovated building of the Nehru Place Post Office here on Thursday. The upgradation incorporates contemporary architectural features, improved customer interface zones and an optimised functional layout in alignment with the ongoing initiatives of the Department of Posts to modernise postal infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Scindia said that nearly 7.5 crore parcels and 90 crore mails are delivered every year by India Post. He said that since the inception of Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs), 2.12 crore passports have been issued in post offices.
The Union Minister also highlighted that in four years, the India Post Payments Bank has gained 13 crore subscribers in four years. He further underlined that there is a deposit of Rs 23 lakh crore in post office savings bank.
