With tensions thawing between India and the US, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, is all set to travel to Washington DC on September 22 to “take forward” trade-related negotiations with an aim to achieve an early conclusion to a bilateral trade deal between the two economies.
On September 16, India’s chief negotiator, Special Secretary, Rajesh Agarwal, had met a team of officials from the US, led by Assistant Trade Representative and chief negotiator of the India-US BTA, Brendan Lynch, in New Delhi.
Goyal had affirmed on September 18 that trade talks between India and the US are progressing and “moving in the right direction”.
