A total of 146 Indian students, including 75 females, have been granted the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the academic years 2024-2026, announced the Delegation of the European Union to India on Friday.

 

The scholarship, part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programme, offers a two-year study programme jointly delivered by international consortia of higher education institutions.

 

This year, 2,603 students from 137 countries have been selected for the programme.

 

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programme highlights its significant impact on students, higher education institutions, and countries worldwide, beyond the EU.

 

India has emerged as the largest beneficiary of this programme, with over 2,000 students receiving scholarships since its inception in 2004.

 

Over the years, more than 6,000 Erasmus+ scholarships have been awarded to Indian students, providing access to advanced education, research facilities, international exposure, and valuable professional networks.

 

Hervé Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India, spotlighted the transformative opportunity this scholarship provides, fostering cultural exchange and enhancing bilateral ties between the EU and India.

He expressed confidence that the selected students will excel and become ambassadors of this partnership.

The selected students will pursue studies and research across a minimum of two universities in different European countries, earning joint or double degrees in fields ranging from sustainability, pharmaceuticals, engineering, quantum sciences, data sciences, to various STEM and social science disciplines.

 

The fully funded scholarship covers European Union to India, and living allowances, ensuring a comprehensive support system for the recipients.
