According to a CBSE circular issued on July 10, the new policy will apply to students entering Class 9 in 2026-27 and Class 10 in 2027-28.

The verdict comes amid longstanding complaints from parents alleging that several private educational institutions have been charging fees far exceeding the limits prescribed by the state authorities.

AICTE says 58 engineering and technical colleges were closed during 2025-26, with Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra recording the highest number of closures.
