9% voting in Arunachal until 9 am, Kiran Rijiju casts vote

An estimated 9% of a total of 8,92,694 voters had cast their votes till 9 am on Friday in Arunachal Pradesh where polling is taking place for two Lok Sabha seats and 50 assembly constituencies.

In Arunachal Pradesh polling is taking place for two Lok Sabha seats and 50 assembly constituencies.

9% voting in Arunachal until 9 am, Kiran Rijiju casts vote

In the Arunachal West parliamentary seat, eight candidates, including Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju and state Congress president Nabam Tuki, are in the fray. Rijiju shows his inked finger after casting his vote.


Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju was among the first persons to vote on April 19.

 

An estimated 9% of a total of 8,92,694 voters had cast their votes till 9 am on Friday in Arunachal Pradesh where polling is taking place for two Lok Sabha seats and 50 assembly constituencies.

 

It should be noted that ruling BJP has already won ten seats in the 60-member assembly unopposed.

 

Despite early morning showers, long queues were seen outside polling stations in the northeastern state, PTI reported.

 

In the Arunachal West parliamentary seat, eight candidates, including Rijiju and state Congress president Nabam Tuki, are in the fray.

 

Sitting BJP MP Tapir Gao and state Congress vice president Bosiram Siram are among the six candidates who are contesting from the Arunachal East.

According to reports from various districts, polling has been peaceful so far without any incidents of violence, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Liken Koyu said. P
