High Voter Turnout in Manipur Re-Polling done for Outer Manipur Lok Sabha Seat.

The re-polling conducted in the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat witnessed a significant voter turnout of 81.16 percent across six polling stations. This exercise was deemed necessary after the Election Commission of India declared the previous polls at these stations as void.

Following the declaration of the polls as void on April 28, fresh elections were scheduled for these stations. The Outer Manipur constituency, comprising 13 Assembly segments, had concluded its voting process earlier in the second phase of polling on April 28.

Previously, repolling had been conducted in 11 polling stations of the Inner Manipur constituency on April 22 due to incidents of violence reported during the initial phase of polling on April 19.

In the Outer Manipur constituency, the electoral battle is primarily between Kachui Timothy Zimik of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Alfred K Arthur of the Congress party.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections have been unfolding across the country in a phased manner. The first phase of voting, covering 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories, took place successfully on April 19, recording an overall voter turnout of 66.14 percent.

The second phase, encompassing 88 seats across 13 states and Union Territories, also saw successful polling on April 26.

Looking ahead, the third phase of polling is scheduled for May 7, with the final results set to be declared on June 4.

The repolling in the Outer Manipur constituency signifies the commitment of the Election Commission to uphold the integrity and fairness of the electoral process, ensuring that every vote counts and reflects the will of the people.
