Stone Pelting and violence have been reported in Chandamari area of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, on April 19.

 

Trinamool Congress workers are reportedly pelting stones both at Bharatiya Janata Party workers and locals who have come to cast their ballot.

 

BJP Mandal president has been injured in the violence. He has been rushed to the hospital.

 

Violence during polls in Cooch Behar is nothing new. Similar scenes were reported during 2021 Assembly polls too.

 

More than 100 companies of CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) have been deployed in the area.

 

For 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, Cooch Behar seat is seeing a contest between BJP leader Nisith Pramanik and TMC veteran Udayan Guha.
