Voting has started for four seats of Bihar, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui, amid tight security in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Gaya and former minister Kumar Sarvjeet arrived in an e-rickshaw to cast his vote. And exercised the franchise along with his wife.
RJD candidate from Nawada Shravan Kushwaha has also cast his vote. There are long queues of voters at the polling booth.
Till 2 pm, 34.25 per cent voters exercised their franchise in Jamui. In Nawada 27.23 per cent, Gaya saw 30.40 per cent voters casting their ballot and Aurangabad 29 per cent.
So far 27.23 per cent voting has taken place on all four seats in Bihar. Voters are exercising their franchise at 7903 booths, out of which 5021 booths have been declared highly sensitive.
Voting is from 7 am to 6 pm at general booths and from 7 am to 4 pm at highly sensitive booths.
From these four seats, 38 candidates are testing their luck. The main contest is between the candidates of INDI Alliance and National Democratic Alliance.
There are a total of 76,01,629 voters on four seats.
Total number of booths in Aurangabad is 1701, 995 in Gaya, 666 in Nawada and 1659 in Jamui have been declared highly sensitive.
Former chief minister of Bihar Jitan Ram Manjhi has been contesting Lok Sabha elections from Gaya on NDA’s ticket against RJD’s Kumar Sarvjeet.
From Jamui, there is a contest between RJD’s Archana Ravidas against Chirag Paswan’s brother-in-law Arun Bharti.
RJD’s Shravan Kushwaha and NDA’s Vivek Thakur is locking horns in Nawada.
And in Aurangabad, there is a face-off between RJD’s Abhay Kushwaha and NDA’s Sushil Singh.
