Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu campaigned in Haryana's Panchkula assembly constituency on Wednesday. Addressing an election rally at Barwala bus stand in favour of Congress candidate Chandramohan Bishnoi, Sukhu hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the Prime Minister was talking about Himachal Pradesh in the elections of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, but did not give a single penny to the state during disaster last year.
"The PM remembers Himachal only during elections. The Central government did not give a single penny during the terrible disaster that hit the state last year. BJP leaders are hiding the truth and presenting wrong facts about Himachal, which is going to become self-reliant. It would have been better if the facts given to the Prime Minister by Himachal BJP leaders were correct. Big leaders come during elections, talk big, but do not tell the truth,"he said.
The Chief Minister said that the Congress government was formed in Himachal 20 months ago and had fulfilled 5 out of our ten guarantees in this short tenure. He said 1.36 lakh employees and officers were given the benefit of Old Pension Scheme in the first cabinet.
"This decision was taken not for political gain but to provide social security to the employees. Those who were getting a pension of Rs 3000 are now getting Rs 30000," he said.
He said the scheme of providing Indira Gandhi Sukh Samman Nidhi of Rs 1500 per month to women had been started.
"Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools are being built in every assembly for quality education. English medium has been started from the first class. Rajiv Gandhi Start Up Scheme worth Rs 680 crore has been started for employment of youth. Himachal Pradesh is the first state to give MSP on milk and wheat and maize produced from natural farming. The government is buying cow milk at Rs 45 and buffalo milk at Rs 55 per kg. The government will buy wheat at Rs 40 and maize at Rs 30 per kg,"he said.
Sukhu said that the previous BJP government distributed freebies worth Rs 5000 crore in the last six months of its tenure in Himachal. He said 125 units of electricity was made free for hotels earning crores of Rupees and for income tax payers. Water was given free, despite this the public showed the BJP the way out of power," the CM said.
He said BJP kept doing politics during the disaster and the Congress government gave an economic package of Rs 4500 crore from its state resources.
"Earlier, Rs 1.30 lakh was given for building a house. We changed the relief manual and gave Rs 7 lakh, Congress's policies are to strengthen the rural economy," he said.
The Congress CM said the government had increased the daily wage of MNREGA from Rs 240 to Rs 300. The government had given the status of Children of the State to 4000 orphan children by adopting them. "Our government is the first welfare government in the country to do this," he said.
The Chief Minister said that the government will bear the entire cost of education of the children of widows in Himachal till the age of 27 years.
"We are going to make Himachal self-reliant. Our state will be economically self-reliant in 2027 and the most prosperous state of the country in 2032. We have changed our policies, we have moved towards becoming economically self-reliant by bringing financial discipline. Our government has worked to uplift the poor and implemented welfare schemes, only then we won the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections and the Assembly by-elections," he said.
Sukhu said that Congress candidate Chandramohan from Panchkula will win and become a minister in the Haryana government.
"He has pain for the poor and respect for the farmers. His father Bhajan Lal has been the Chief Minister of Haryana. He gave Haryana the idea of becoming self-reliant. The people of Panchkula should elect Chandramohan, he will create employment opportunities. The area will develop in all directions," he said.
Sukhu said former Chief Minister Bhupendra Hooda and the Congress Party have given many guarantees to employees including Oold Pension Scheme (OPS), Rs 2000 per month to women and loan waiver for farmers, which they will fulfill after forming the government.
"Today, employees in Haryana are on the streets for OPS. They will not have to protest for long. The Congress government of Haryana will give them OPS. The Congress party represents all castes, religions and ideologies.
"Only the Congress can make welfare schemes for Haryana," he said.
