Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday announced a significant pre-poll promise, pledging that if his party returns to power in Bihar, every household in the state will have at least one member employed in a government job.
During a press conference, Yadav outlined the timeline for this ambitious employment guarantee, stating that a new law to support this initiative would be enacted within 20 days of forming the government, with full implementation across the state within 20 months.
Yadav declared, “We will ensure that every household will have a person with a government job after our government comes to power. We will make a new act for it within 20 days of forming the government, and in 20 months, not a single house will be without a government job.”
This announcement comes in the lead-up to the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for 2025.
The elections for the 243 Assembly seats will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting set for November 14. According to an Election Commission press release, the final electoral roll lists 7.42 crore electors. As of June 24, there were 7.89 crore electors, but 65 lakh voters were removed from the draft list. The draft electoral roll, as of August 1, recorded 7.24 crore electors.
