English actress Aimee Lou Wood is set to lead a series adaptation of “Jane Eyre”.
The upcoming period drama, based on Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel, follows the emotional and moral growth of protagonist Jane, as she navigates love, social equality and independence in the 19th century.
The 1847 novel—which was considered revolutionary for its first-person narrative style and approach to class, sexuality and female independence—follows the titular heroine as she grows into adulthood and falls for the brooding Mr. Rochester.
