Britney Spears has checked into a substance abuse treatment facility a little over a month after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
A representative for the 44-year-old popstar confirmed in an email that she had voluntarily admitted herself to the facility. According to authorities, on March 5, California Highway Patrol officers received reports of a BMW being driven at high speed and in an erratic manner on U.S. 101 in Ventura County, near the Los Angeles County line.
Spears, who resides in the area, underwent a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs. She was taken into custody at a county jail and released a few hours later.

The case was forwarded to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office on March 23, which is expected to decide on possible charges ahead of a scheduled court appearance on May 4.
At the time, her representative described the incident as ‘completely inexcusable’ and expressed hope that it would mark ‘the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life’. Spears has largely stepped away from her music career in recent years, having not toured in nearly eight years and not released an album in almost a decade.
In 2021, she regained control over her personal and financial decisions after a court ended her conservatorship, which had been in place for nearly 14 years. Two years later, she released her bestselling memoir, ‘The Woman in Me’.
