He added, “I am an Indian. I will always respect my parents, and their advice means the world to me. Go to hell.”

When Netflix dropped “Desi Bling” last month, it instantly became a sensation and internet's official obsession.

The circle of ultra-wealthy Indian expats flaunting their billions, Birkins, and massive egos in Dubai promptly caught eyeballs as did the curious mix of intense social climbing, shifting alliances, fractured marriages, and unapologetic gossip, featuring Lamborghinis, private yachts, haute couture, and over-the-top parties.

But what really hooked the viewers to the reality show was the undeniable star power of actor-couple Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash. And while Karan’s elaborate proposal to Tejasswi became the biggest selling point for “Desi Bling”, it also generated massive criticism online.

And now, Karan has broken his silence on the social media trolling surrounding his proposal to long-time girlfriend Tejasswi after seeking his parents' approval.

Defending his stance, Karan said, “To everyone saying that I shouldn’t have asked my parents, laanat hai tum pe (shame on you). If you expect your boyfriend or future husband to stop caring about what his parents think or what their perspective is, shame on you. They are your parents. They raised you. Just because someone new enters your life doesn’t mean you forget their place and importance.”

"People who are commenting on me that you should not talk to your parents before making a decision, I want to ask them what world are they living in? Were they born and raised in India, or in the Kardashians’ household?" Karan fumed.

Schooling the trolls on the importance of family, the actor added, “I am an Indian. I will always respect my parents, and their advice means the world to me. Go to hell.”

Karan also addressed the burning question he and Tejasswi have been facing for a long time—why have they not tied the knot yet despite being together for several years.

“It is not a question of why; it is a question of when,” Karan said, shutting down rumours of any trouble between the couple.

Karan and Tejasswi met on reality show “Bigg Boss 15” in 2021. Their bond on the show blossomed into a romantic relationship, and they soon became one of the most popular celebrity couples, fondly called “TejRan” by fans and followers.
