Hollywood star Kate Winslet appears to be moving from one fantasy universe to another. The actor, who recently reunited with her Titanic director James Cameron for Avatar: Fire and Ash, is now reportedly in talks to join the upcoming film ‘Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’.
If the deal goes through, Winslet will star alongside Andy Serkis, who is directing the film and will also reprise his iconic role as Gollum from the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Warner Bros. has not yet officially confirmed the full cast of the project. However, reports suggest that Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen may return to reprise their beloved roles as Frodo Baggins and Gandalf.

The film is being produced by Peter Jackson, who originally brought JRR Tolkien’s legendary novels to the big screen, along with his long-time collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
The Hunt for Gollum will also mark a reunion between Winslet and Jackson, who previously worked together on the 1994 film Heavenly Creatures.
The movie is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 17, 2027. While specific plot details have not yet been revealed, the story is expected to take place between the events of The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
Both The Lord of the Rings trilogy and its prequel series The Hobbit were major global box-office successes.
