“In some ways, God saved my life. My lord saved my life, honestly,” he said.

Following the release of his documentary “Untold: The Life & Death of Lamar Odom”, former NBA star Lamar Odom has hit back at ex-wife Khloé Kardashian’s claim that she saved his life in the aftermath of his near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel in 2015.

During a recent appearance on “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle”, host Jenna Bush Hager questioned Lamar on Khloé’s role in saving his life.

“In some ways,” the 46-year-old replied. “God saved my life. My lord saved my life, honestly.”

Khloé had filed for divorce from Lamar after six years of marriage shortly before his health scare, Jenna and co-host Sheinelle Jones pointed out. However, during the three-day period when Lamar was in a coma, she remained by his side as he battled through 12 strokes and six heart attacks on his road to recovery.

“She took care of me,” Lamar admitted, “but God took care of me the most. What I came back from is like a medical miracle.”

Lamar also rejected Khloé’s claim in the documentary that his late father Joe Odom was at the Nevada hospital and about to take his son off of life support when she arrived.

“You know, I was knocked out and asleep at that time. If you know Joe Odom, I don’t think that’s something that would ever come out of his mouth. He was my biggest fan. I don’t know where that got mistranslated,” the former Los Angeles Laker said.

He added, “I just can’t see him ever, ever doing that.”

Despite having little contact since their 2016 divorce, the pair shared a brief onscreen reunion during a 2025 episode of “The Kardashians” when Lamar visited Khloé's house to collect some personal belongings.

“It was awkward, and it wasn’t really good for me,” Lamar reflected. “But once you’re family, you’re always family, so she ain’t going nowhere.”

Still, he didn’t expect the two would ever get back together romantically. “I will always have love for her but being in love, no,” he said.

In Lamar’s documentary, Khloé spoke about the time after his overdose episode during which she stepped in to care for him, staying at the hospital with him for almost four months and renting him a home near hers, along with a caretaker and a chef.

“We were going to rehabilitate him,” the 41-year-old reality TV star said.

But the plan quickly changed when she stopped by his house in May 2016 and caught him doing drugs. "Once you know the smell of crack, it's the most identifiable, disgusting smell, and there's nothing you can confuse it with," she said.
