Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address an election meeting in Faridabad, Haryana, on Tuesday, as the state prepares for Assembly elections on October 5.
This marks Modi’s fourth visit to the poll-bound state for campaigning, where he will rally support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates across all nine Assembly constituencies in the district.
During a recent rally in Sonipat, PM Modi said the promises made by the Congress in its manifesto in Haryana should be first implemented in Karnataka and Telangana, the two states which are currently under Congress rule.
Preparations for the Faridabad rally are underway, set to take place at the Faridabad-Palwal border in the Prithla Assembly constituency. In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, Modi's rallies significantly contributed to the BJP's success, with seven BJP MLAs elected after his address in Sector 61.
In anticipation of the event, Faridabad Police have issued a traffic advisory to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure law and order.
Restrictions will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., prohibiting all types of heavy and light motor vehicles from entering Palwal from Faridabad and Delhi. Restrictions will also apply to vehicles travelling on the Agra-Mathura Highway (NH-44).
Commuters heading to Palwal from Faridabad are advised to use the KMP/KGP (Western Peripheral Expressway) and Vadodara Expressway instead of NH-44, while those going towards the Vadodara Expressway should take the Kaily to Jajru underpass route.
Police have encouraged the use of public transport during the restricted hours to alleviate traffic congestion.
The 90-member Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with vote counting set for October 8. While the BJP aims for a third consecutive win, the Congress seeks to regain power in Haryana after losing in 2014.
