Indians planning to move to Canada for better job opportunities may face a new challenge as the Canadian government updates its Express Entry rules. Changes have been made to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which determines eligibility for permanent immigration.

According to the Canadian government, candidates will no longer receive extra points for having a job offer. These new rules will take effect in the spring of 2025 and are aimed at reducing fraud.

"We are taking steps to reduce fraud while still attracting the skilled workers our economy needs," said Marc Miller, Canada's Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship.

"Immigration has always been vital to Canada's success, and we remain committed to welcoming the best and brightest to ensure everyone has access to quality jobs, homes, and support to succeed," he added.

The removal of job offer points will impact candidates seeking permanent residency through the Express Entry system, including those working in Canada temporarily.

However, the new rules will not affect candidates who have already been invited to apply for permanent residency with CRS scores that still include points for a job offer under the "arranged employment" criteria.
