Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched fresh drone and missile attacks targeting US assets in the Gulf nations as retaliation for the attacks on the South Pars gas facility and Kharg Island.
Kuwait’s military said that the country’s air defence systems were activated and responding to the “incoming drone attacks and hostile missile attacks”.
Its defence forces said that if an explosion is heard, it is most likely the air defence system shooting down hostile projectiles in its airspace.
People have been asked to stay indoors until further orders. Similar strikes and interceptions were reported by the UAE government.
It said that on Friday early morning its air defences were effectively engaging the drones and missiles fired by the Iranian government.
They issued warnings stating that people in the country must exercise caution and “follow official orders before heading out of their homes”.
Additionally, Bahrain also activated their air defence systems after hostile projectiles were seen breaching and flying in their airspace, according to the Interior Ministry.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence has announced that it intercepted and downed five drones over the Eastern Province within the last three hours.
Meanwhile, the war between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated after Hezbollah launched a massive military operation against invading Israeli forces in the south and north of Lebanon.
The Israeli army has expanded its ground troop presence in southern Lebanon since it escalated attacks on the country on March 2.
It’s pertinent to mention that Israel and Iran have carried out strikes targeting each other’s energy infrastructure since the start of the trilateral war in the Middle East.
