US President Joe Biden’s Gaza Peace Talk Statements Labelled Misleading by Hamas.

Hamas has strongly criticised US President Joe Biden’s recent comments about their stance on the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, calling them misleading.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, Hamas expressed "great astonishment and disapproval" of Biden's remarks, claiming that they do not accurately reflect the movement's position or its genuine desire to halt the violence.

The group accused Biden of perpetuating American bias in favour of Israel, which they argue emboldens the Israeli government to continue its actions against Palestinian civilians. Hamas believes that the US stance is encouraging further aggression rather than promoting a fair resolution to the conflict.

In their statement, Hamas emphasised that they have engaged positively and responsibly in all previous negotiations mediated by Qatar and Egypt. They pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been a major obstacle, often adding new conditions that hinder the progress of peace talks.

Hamas reiterated its commitment to the agreements reached on July 2, which were based on Biden's statements and a UN Security Council resolution. They urged the mediators to continue pressuring Israel to adhere to these agreements.

Biden's comments came after he accused Hamas of retreating from a potential deal with Israel that could end the ongoing fighting in Gaza. Speaking at the Democratic National Convention, Biden stated that while the deal is still a possibility, Hamas is now backing away from the agreement, as reported by Israeli media.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to navigate the complexities of the conflict, with accusations and diplomatic manoeuvres shaping the ongoing discourse.
