‘India could play dirty at the border’, said the Defence Minister of Pakistan, Khwaja Asif, while talking to a media channel about Islamabad’s ongoing tensions with Afghanistan, and therefore establishing New Delhi’s link with the same, adding that Pakistan was ready for a "two-front war". The statement came in response to a question Asif was asked about the chances of Indian provocations along the LoC/border, and whether Pakistan is ready, in case a two-front war breaks out.
"No, absolutely, you cannot rule that out. There are strong possibilities. Yes, strategies are in place. I can't discuss them publicly, but we are prepared for any eventuality,” said the Pakistani defence minister.
Previously, Asif had blamed India for its current conflict with Afghanistan, saying that ‘Kabul is fighting a proxy war on New Delhi’s behalf’.
"I have my doubts that the ceasefire will hold, because the decisions of the [Afghan] Taliban are being sponsored by Delhi. Right now, Kabul is fighting a proxy war for Delhi.”
For now, Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire late on Wednesday. Dozens of troops and civilians were killed during the military conflict between the two nations.
