Iran and Israel have halted their mutual missile and drone attacks after a fresh round of exchanges, though Tehran has warned it will respond if Israel continues its strikes in Lebanon.
US President Donald Trump has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “be careful”, warning that Israeli aggression against Iran and Lebanon could jeopardise a potential US peace deal with Tehran.
Trump reportedly told Netanyahu that Israel might soon find itself “on your own”.
Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran had only agreed to a ceasefire that was repeatedly violated on the ground by the Israeli regime.
He added that there appeared to be no genuine effort or will from either Israel or the United States to build trust.
The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces attacked and disabled an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman that was heading towards an Iranian port.
This brings the total number of vessels struck to seven since the US imposed a blockade on Iran’s ports in April.
Since the ceasefire with Iran came into effect, Israeli forces have killed more than 36,000 people in Lebanon. On Monday alone, around a dozen civilians, including a woman and a child, were killed.
Iranian officials accuse Israel of deliberately targeting civilians to pressure the Lebanese population against Hezbollah and to gain greater access to areas across the Litani River.
