French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday conveyed warm Independence Day greetings to India, praising the country’s growing stature in global affairs and pledging to deepen future strategic cooperation.
Macron, in a post on X, recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France earlier this year and underlined Paris’ long-term commitment to advancing the bilateral partnership.
“Warm congratulations to the people of India on your 79th Independence Day! I fondly recall welcoming my friend @NarendraModi to France in February, and look forward to deepening our strategic partnership towards 2047 and beyond,” he wrote.
In a separate message, the Russian Embassy in India said President Vladimir Putin had sent greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the national occasion.
“India has achieved widely recognised success in socio-economic, scientific, technical, and other fields. Your country enjoys well-deserved respect on the global stage and actively contributes to addressing key issues on the international agenda,” Putin said.
