The ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan came to an end on Friday, with ceasefire negotiations likely to take place in the Qatari Capital Doha, later on Friday.
Tensions have been soaring between the countries after recent border clashes killed dozens from each side. According to officials, the Taliban confirmed that a delegation from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led by Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, will meet with Pakistani security and intelligence officials in Doha today.
Although Pakistan has not yet issued any formal response regarding the peace talks, the officials have confirmed that a delegation from both sides was expected to take place to ease the persisting tensions between the two neighbours. Security sources said discussions were anticipated but did not specify details on timing or location.

The Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also received a message from Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdul-Aziz Al-Khulaifi, who lauded Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability. It’s important to mention that the temporary ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan ended on Friday, adding further urgency to the Doha talks.
