Pakistan has vowed to retaliate at a "time and place of its own choosing" following India's precision strikes on nine locations, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, Gulpur, Bhimber, Chak Amru, Bagh, Kotli, Sialkot and Muzaffarabad, as part of Operation Sindoor.
In an official statement, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), condemned the airstrikes, calling them a "cowardly attack." He claimed the Indian military action came amid escalating tensions triggered by a recent deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.
The statement, carried by Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, signaled a sharp escalation in rhetoric between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. While the Pakistani military has not confirmed any casualties, it asserted its right to respond "firmly and decisively" to what it described as an unprovoked act of aggression.
"Some time ago, the cowardly enemy India launched air strikes on Subhanullah Mosque in Bahawalpur’s Ahmed East area, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad — hitting three sites from the air," Chaudhry stated. "All our air force jets are airborne. This cowardly and shameful attack was carried out from within India’s airspace. They were never allowed to intrude into Pakistan’s airspace. Let me say this unequivocally: Pakistan will respond to this at a time and place of its own choosing. This heinous provocation will not go unanswered."
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, speaking to GEO TV, dismissed India’s assertion that the strikes had targeted terrorist camps, calling the claim "false and misleading."
On the other side, Indian officials confirmed the strikes and stood by their statement that the military action specifically targeted infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) used to plan and direct terrorist attacks against India.
Operation Sindoor marks a major military response by India following one of the deadliest terror attacks on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years.
