A senior Russian general lost his life after a car bomb exploded under his vehicle in southern Moscow on Monday morning, officials said. The Russian investigators have linked the Ukrainian special services to the suspect in the blast.
The Russian investigative committee, after the blast said, "The bomb detonated under the Kia Sorento driven by Lieutenant General FanilSarvarov, head of the Operational Training Department within the Russian General Staff, as he left a parking space at 06:55 Moscow time (03:55 GMT) on Yasenyova Street.”
The committee’s official spokeswoman, Svetlana Petrenko, said, "As a result of the injuries sustained, the head of the Operational Training Department of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General FanilSarvarov, died."
They also published a video showing the wreckage of a General car, with blood on and body parts visible on the driver’s seat.

The Ukrainian defence officials have yet to respond to the comment, while the battle in the Sumy region is going on between Russian and Ukrainian forces.
According to recent confirmatory reports about the identity of the victim, the Russian sources wrote in a social media post, "The driver of the exploded Kia in Moscow turned out to be Lieutenant General of the Russian Armed Forces FanilSarvarov—the military officer died from the injuries. This is not an isolated incident; Ukrainian forces, according to Russian intelligence agencies, have carried out at least four such high-profile attacks."
This is the latest in a series of targeted attacks on prominent Russian figures attributed by Moscow to Ukraine, including the killing of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov in December 2024 and YaroslavMoskalik in April 2025, as well as earlier incidents involving blogger Maxim Fomin (2023) and Daria Dugina (2022).
