The Epstein saga in the United States has gone mainstream now, with Trump allegedly threatening to release all files related to the sex offender case after Congress's approval.

Trump made a shocking U-turn from his earlier stated stance, in which he said everything related to Jeffrey Epstein was a made-up claim by the Democrats, and ordered that the transcripts not be made public.

He alleged that the Democrats tried to weaponise selective documents against him. The latest announcement followed his latest order in which he wanted the FBI and other prosecuting agencies to probe former President Bill Clinton’s ties with an alleged sex offender.

Epstein was found dead in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges and running an underage sex ring. His long association with wealthy and influential figures in the US and beyond continues to reverberate in Washington, where both parties have accused each other of using the case for political gain.

A congressional committee released more than 20,000 documents related to the Epstein case last week, prompting some Democrats to point out Trump’s own past friendship with the convicted sex offender.

Since the release of certain documents, including some emails, the case has triggered a political firestorm in the country, with reports suggesting many of the top politicians, businessmen, and foreign diplomats were involved in the exploitation of the underage girls.

Trump made a bold statement on Monday, saying, “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide.”
“The House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to; I DON’T CARE!” the president added. During his election campaign, Trump pledged to declassify the Epstein files and signed an executive order shortly after taking office.
