Trump sceptical of Russia-Ukraine ceasefire

Trump has often criticised both Ukraine and Russia for blocking the ceasefire that would see an end to fighting and the return of normal life in the countries.

United States President Donald Trump said the time was not right for him to call for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

When asked about the possibility of the ceasefire in Ukraine, especially because more than a month had already passed since he met Putin in Alaska, Trump responded, saying, “It doesn’t feel like it,” Trump said. “But at the right time, if I have to do it, it will be harsh.”

Trump has often criticised both Ukraine and Russia for blocking the ceasefire that would see an end to fighting and the return of normal life in the countries. He added that the negotiated settlement of the conflict is very hard, and he believes it is much tougher than he anticipated at the beginning.

Speaking at the press conference later with the British Prime Minister, a staunch backer of the Zelensky regime, Trump said that Putin had “really let me down.” Earlier last week, the US President said he would impose additional Major and tougher sanctions on Moscow, but only if NATO members stop purchasing Russian oil.

“This is not TRUMP’S WAR (it would never have started if I were president!); it is Biden’s and Zelensky’s WAR,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform, referring to his predecessor and the leader of Ukraine. Sanctions, including the stricter CATSA, imposed back in 2023 by the Biden regime, not only failed to deter Moscow but also gave the Russian economy the much-needed shot in the arm.

Meanwhile, Moscow has demanded that Ukraine recognise its new borders, abandon its plan to join NATO in favour of permanent neutrality, and agree to limit its military. Zelensky has rejected these terms.
