The United States president Donald Trump has once again reiterated claims to take control of the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan that was left after the US withdrew its forces from the country back in 2021.
Trump said he is trying to get Bagram Air Base back for US forces, though this is unlikely to happen due to the Taliban government, which is currently ruling the country. Trump said his administration was making efforts to gain control of the base; however, he did not reveal how he was planning to regain control of it.
"We're going to leave Afghanistan, but we're going to leave it with strength and dignity. And, we're going to keep Bagram, the big air base that is one of the biggest air bases in the world," he said during a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Both leaders held a press conference at Chequers, the prime minister's estate in Buckinghamshire, north of London. Trump had arrived in the UK for his second and historic visit to the UK at the invitation of King Charles III. He was given a royal welcome and a lavish banquet at Windsor Castle.
On the Charlie Kirk assassination, he said that he was going to take some serious action in the coming days, adding he believes there is a tremendous amount of hatred in the US, which started with former President Barack Obama’s term.
“When you see the kind of hatred out there, it is unbelievable. It has probably always been there, and we don't realise it, but I saw it starting with President Obama. The hatred continued to increase and worsened during the Biden administration, he said.
