US President Donald Trump.

US President Donald Trump has deployed National Guard troops to Memphis, saying the crime is out of control in the city, while the decision has divided the right- and left-wing critics.

He signed the order on Monday that will see the National Guard sent to Memphis to tackle the rampant crime rate and take out criminals. The country’s domestic crime rates have surged beyond recognition in recent times. The country witnessed three back-to-back murders last week, including a prominent conservative public figure, Charlie Kirk.

Besides announcing the latest deployment, Trump has already deployed the National Guard troops to the capital, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles this year. Promising to send troops to all the crime-infested states.

"We think Chicago is going to be next, and we'll get to St Louis and New Orleans," Trump said. All of these cities in question are run by Democrats.

Trump signed the executive order alongside the Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, also a Republican. The order will initiate the movement of the troops, including the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Department of Homeland Security and US Marshals, alongside the National Guard and local law enforcement.

The operation will be overseen by the US Attorney General, Pam Bondi,” Trump said, adding that "Memphis had the highest violent crime rate, the highest property crime rate and the third-highest murder rate of any city in the nation."

The US president experimented with the same in Washington, DC, and has so far achieved positive results. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, a democrat, who denied the crime in the city was out of control, has described the move as an “authoritarian push”.
