United States President Donald Trump has defended the military action on a boat belonging to a Venezuelan gang, saying the actions against the drug cartel will continue in the Caribbean.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the strikes against the dreaded cartel and drug mafia will continue in the coming days. Trump recently announced the deployment of six Navy warships near the coasts of Venezuela in an attempt to restrict drugs from reaching the US mainland.
The Trump administration has declared war against the Cartel del Sol, believed to have strong backing from the Venezuelan government. The US naval forces destroyed a speedboat allegedly carrying 11 cartel members on board. The boat was reportedly leaving Venezuela and was allegedly affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang, which Washington has designated as a terrorist organisation.
During his ongoing trip to Mexico, Rubio was quoted as saying, "What will stop them is when you blow them up, when you get rid of them.” While praising his forces, Trump said the strikes will cause panic in the cartels and force them to think twice before trying to import drugs to the US.

When asked about why the forces did not arrest the cartel members, Trump replied, "There were massive amounts of drugs coming into our country to kill a lot of people, and everybody fully understands that.”
Trump said, "Obviously, they won't be doing it again. And I think a lot of other people won't be doing it again. When they watch that tape, they're going to say, 'Let's not do this.” In recent weeks, the United States has deployed warships to the southern Caribbean, aiming to follow through on Trump's pledge to crack down on drug cartels.
