In a recent statement, US President Joe Biden made pointed remarks about the immigration policies of two of his allies and two adversaries, labeling India, Japan, Russia, and China as "xenophobic" nations.

Speaking at a fundraiser, Biden emphasized the importance of immigration to the United States, contrasting it with what he perceives as restrictive policies in these countries.

During the event, Biden highlighted the role of immigrants in fueling America's economic growth, stating, "Immigrants are what makes us strong."

He criticized China, Japan, Russia, and India for their alleged reluctance to welcome immigrants, attributing economic challenges in these nations to their "xenophobic" stance.

India and Japan are key members of the QUAD, a strategic security dialogue also involving the US and Australia.

Biden's comments come in the wake of recent engagements with these nations, including a state visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an official visit by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to the White House.

However, Biden's immigration policies have faced scrutiny and opposition, particularly from the Republican Party, amidst a surge in illegal immigration into the United States.

Immigration is expected to be a central issue in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for November 5, where Biden will contend against former President Donald Trump, the presumptive candidate of the Republican Party.

The nominees for both parties will be officially confirmed at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, setting the stage for a contentious debate on immigration and other pressing issues.
