Amit Shah dares NC-Congress to bring back Article 370 in J&K

Addressing a rally in the Chenani area of Jammu division, ahead of phase III of the Assembly polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “You will all vote not just for Chenani but make a decision for the entire J&K. After independence, it is for the first time that an election is held here - there is no Article 370 or a separate flag.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday challenged the National Conference-Congress Alliance to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

Addressing a rally in the Chenani area of Jammu division, ahead of phase III of the Assembly polls, Shah said, “You will all vote not just for Chenani but make a decision for the entire J&K. After independence, it is for the first time that an election is held here - there is no Article 370 or a separate flag.”

“NC and Rahul Baba say that we will bring back Article 370, but I want to tell them that neither you nor three generations after you will be able to do it,” he said.

“The world is closely monitoring the ongoing elections in Jammu and Kashmir, where two contrastingly different visions are on display.

"On one hand, the NC, Congress, and PDP parties, perpetuating terrorism in the region for around 40 years, are eyeing power. On the other hand, the BJP is committed to rooting out terrorism from J&K.”

He said, “Whoever spreads terror in J&K will get his answer in a befitting manner.”

While referring to the hanging of a 2001 parliament attack convict, he said, “I want to ask you whether (Parliament attack convict) Afzal Guru should have been hanged or not. The NC-Congress is now saying he should not have been hanged,” Shah said.

Taking a jibe at the two parties,  he said, "They want to release stone pelters and terrorists. Give up these dreams because you cannot do it. It is the duty of courts, and we have enforced such laws that nobody will dare to hurl a stone anymore,”

Voting for the final phase of the J&K elections will be held on October 1. Results will be announced on October 8.
