National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah said on Monday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was heading towards defeat in the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Assembly elections.

Abdullah was hopeful that voters in J&K would make the right decision this time in the ongoing polls.

“We are expecting people to make the right decision for the restoration of special status and other matters,” he said.

He said it was all right if the BJP targeted him because the NC was fighting with the party.

Confident of NC's victory, Abdullah said the BJP was heading towards defeat.

While responding to a query with on the recent statements of BJP leaders during their campaigns about Article 370 being done and dusted, he said the party had been burying everything.

Top BJP leaders, including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda, J Kishen Reddy, and other star campaigners from the party have repeatedly defended the Article 370 abrogation.

On several occasions, they accused the NC, Congress and Peoples Democratic Party of using Article 370 as a shield to promote terrorism in the Valley and restrict the development of the region.

When asked about the Waqf Bill, Abdullah said that the Joint parliamentary committee has been reviewing the bill; let them bring the bill into the Parliament, and then NC, a partner in the INDIA bloc, will take appropriate steps.
