The voter turnout for phase one of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) assembly elections has reached 58.19% by 5 pm today. Voting is taking place in 24 assembly constituencies across seven districts on both sides of the Pir Panjal region.
Earlier in the day, the turnout was reported at 50.65% by 3 pm, with a lower turnout of 11.11% recorded by 11 am.
While some constituencies are experiencing brisk voting, reports suggest a slowdown in others, affecting both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
The turnout is expected to be significant and could potentially set new records in certain constituencies, especially in the Kashmir division.
The constituencies where voting is taking place include: Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Zainapora, Shopian, DH Pora, Kulgam, Devsar, Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara-Bijbehara, Shangus-Anantnag East, and Pahalgam from the Kashmir Division, and Inderwal, Kishtwar, Padder-Nagseni, Bhadarwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban, and Banihal from the Jammu Division.
Voting will continue until 6 pm, with results scheduled to be announced on October 8.
