Trends at 11 am show the NC-Congress alliance inching closer to the halfway mark, with the NC and Congress celebrating the early leads.

Iltija concedes, Lone, Raina among big guns trailing in J&K

As vote-counting is underway for the J&K assembly polls, early trends suggest JKNC emerging as the single largest party in the UT as it is leading in 35 assembly segments, followed by the BJP, which is leading in 28 seats.

 

The trends at 11 am show the NC-Congress alliance inching closer to the halfway mark, with the NC and Congress celebrating the early leads.

 

NC candidates Sakina Itoo and Feroz Peerzada, along with CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami, are leading in the three assembly constituencies of Kulgam.

 

Sakina Itoo is leading in the D. H. Pora constituency with 1,767 votes, having secured a total of 2,880 votes so far. Her rival, Gulzar Ahmad Dar, has received 1,113 votes.

Meanwhile, Iltija Mufti has accepted the defeat against her rival Bashir Ahmad Veer. Iltija took to social media platform X and wrote, “I accept the verdict of the people. The love and affection I received from everyone in Bijbehara will always stay with me. Gratitude to my PDP workers who
worked so hard throughout this campaign”

 

In Kulgam, CPI(M) leader Tarigami is ahead by 743 votes, with a total of 3,856 votes, while his competitor, Jamaat backed Sayar Ahmad Reshi, has secured 3,113 votes so far.

 

In Devsar, Feroz Ahmad Peerzada is leading by 456 votes, having obtained 1,438 votes, while Mohammad Sartaj Madni has received 982 votes so far.

 

Shiekh Mohammad Rafi of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference in Shopian, South Kashmir, is trailing by 458 votes. Omar Abdullah (Budgam and Ganderbal) is leading in both seats.

 

However, Ravinder Raina, BJP UT chief, who was leading till 9 am, is now trailing in Nowshera by more than 9,000 votes.

 

Similarly, Iltija Mufti (Bijbehara seat), who was also leading, is now trailing.

 

 Sajjad Lone, contesting from the Handwara seat, too is trailing.

 

Congress's Tara Chand, meanwhile, was trailing in Chhamb.

 

Several leaders of the Congress and JKNC said that the people have shown their anger in the elections; they have voted in large numbers to keep the BJP out of J&K.
