Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav lashed out at the Congress on Sunday, calling the party a “coward regime” because of its lukewarm response to terror, which was the reason why, according to him, soldiers lost their lives.
Things were different now, he added, as India responded to terror attacks by hitting out at enemies “in their own homes.”
Addressing a poll rally in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Yadav said, “If the enemies of our harm our soldiers, will our Army just watch?
“When the Congress government (was in power) then our soldiers were decapitated. Our self-respecting soldiers used to keep asking Delhi, ‘give us orders, we are capable to dealing with them (the enemies). Give us orders, we will settle all scores, give us orders, we will teach Pakistan a lesson.
“But the government of cowards, they did not have the strength. It was like they did not possess a tongue. They kept quiet. Now let the enemy dare do anything, the man with the 56-inch (chest) is at home,” Yadav said, referring to PM Modi.
“Dare anyone shoot a bullet, the response overnight will be a gola (bomb) to settle scores,” he added.
Yadav also praised the BJP government for bringing 20,000 Indian students back from Russia amid the ongoing war, saying, “20,000 Indian students were stranded abroad because of the Russia-Ukraine war.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi, not just Indian students but Pakistani students reached their homes. The PM called top leaders and got the war called off so that the students could come safely.”
While talking to reporters on the side-lines of the event, he expressed confidence about the BJP forming the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I am here to campaign for the party candidates, and the way our party is running the campaigns indicates that we will win the elections,” he said.
The elections in J&K are being held after a decade and are taking place in three phases. The first phase of voting took place on September 18 with a voter turnout of 61.13 pc.
Voting for the second and third phases in J&K will be held on September 25 and October 1 with counting of votes taking place on October 8.
These are the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370, and also the first since the status of J&K was downgraded to UT in 2019.
