Delhi witnessed a grim day on Thursday with three separate murders reported across the city, prompting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to raise serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership in the national capital.

In the first incident, a minor road accident in Central Delhi’s Nabi Karim area turned fatal when a 34-year-old man named Mahendra was killed.

The altercation began after Mahendra’s vehicle lightly brushed against another. In a fit of rage, two brothers, Lucky and Sagar, attacked him with a screwdriver, leading to his death. Both accused fled the scene and are currently absconding as police teams continue their search.

The second incident occurred in Punjabi Basti, also in Central Delhi, where a 24-year-old man named Ashish Anand was stabbed to death. His mother alleged that the murder was a result of a pre-planned conspiracy involving a group of four to five men.

According to her, the accused had a history of conflict with her son and were consuming alcohol outside their house when the attack happened. The police have arrested two suspects and are actively searching for the remaining individuals involved.

The third murder took place in North East Delhi’s Seelampur area, where 17-year-old Kunal was brutally stabbed. He was immediately taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and several police teams have been deployed to identify and apprehend the culprits. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed that she had spoken to the Police Commissioner regarding the case. She assured the public that justice would be served and the accused would be arrested soon.

Reacting strongly to the Seelampur incident, senior AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi questioned the state of policing in the capital. She called the murder another example of worsening public safety and asked what the Delhi Police was doing to control crime.

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh from AAP also criticized the BJP, accusing them of failing to maintain law and order in the city.

He claimed that crime had surged under the BJP’s rule and stated that the situation had not improved since they took over from the AAP government, which had governed Delhi for over a decade before the BJP came to power in February.
