Delhi Police bust alleged terror module linked to Pakistan’s ISI and extremist groups, arrest eight suspects from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal over a planned attack.

Delhi Police has busted a major terror module allegedly linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Bangladesh-based extremist organisations, arresting eight suspects from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in a coordinated operation, officials said.

According to police sources, the accused were allegedly planning a major terrorist strike in India under the direction of foreign handlers. Six suspects — identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammed Ujjal — were detained from garment units in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu, while two others were arrested from West Bengal.

Officials said some of the arrested individuals are Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly using forged Aadhaar cards to conceal their identities and operate within India.

The arrests came a day after security agencies issued a high alert across the national capital following intelligence inputs about a possible terror plot by Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to sources, crowded religious and heritage sites were among the potential targets, with a temple in the Chandni Chowk area and locations near the Red Fort identified as possible sites for an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.

The Delhi Police Special Cell said the operation began after investigators tracked provocative posters supporting terror activities that had appeared at more than 10 locations across Delhi, including inside the Delhi Metro network. The posters reportedly contained inflammatory content and “Free Kashmir” slogans.

“The investigation into the origin of these posters led the team to Tiruppur with the assistance of local police. The suspects were found working in garment factories and were carrying fake Aadhaar cards,” an officer of the Special Cell said.

During the operation, police recovered eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards from the accused. Officials said the devices are being examined for digital evidence and to identify possible links to other operatives and handlers.

Investigators suspect the module was part of a larger network operating under foreign direction. The accused are being brought to Delhi for further interrogation and legal proceedings.

Officials described the arrests as a breakthrough in preventing a potential terror conspiracy. Further investigations are underway to trace funding channels, identify additional suspects, and uncover possible cross-border links.
