A woman who filed a molestation case against self-styled godman Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Swami Parthasarathy, in 2016, recounted her traumatic experience, describing his predatory behaviour and stating that he “had vulture-like eyes” on her.

The 62-year-old, who faces charges of sexually harassing 17 students at his Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management in Vasant Kunj, southwest Delhi, is currently absconding as Delhi Police intensify efforts to locate him.

The woman, who was 20 years old at the time of the incidents, detailed her ordeal in a first information report (FIR) filed in 2016. She revealed that she dropped out of the institute after just eight months due to relentless harassment by Chaitanyananda.

She alleged that he sent her obscene text messages and addressed her with inappropriate terms such as “baby” and “sweet girl.” According to her statement, “It was the most difficult period of my life. As soon as I joined the institute, Baba started sending me obscene messages. He called me ‘baby’ and ‘sweet girl.’

After classes ended at 6:30 pm, he would call me to his office and harass me.” She further claimed that Chaitanyananda made promises to lure her, saying she was “very talented” and offering to take her to Dubai for studies with all expenses covered.

However, she resisted these overtures, stating, “I didn’t want this at all, but his staff continued to put pressure on me. Baba confiscated my mobile phone and forced me to live alone in the hostel. I wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone. He would call me at night on the phone in my room. He had a vulture-like eye on me.” She also alleged that he spoke about taking her out for dinner and staying in “nice hotels,” which left her deeply frightened. “I was very scared,” she said.

The woman further accused Chaitanyananda of attempting to touch her “inappropriately” and pressuring her to accompany him to Mathura. Fearing for her safety, she fled the institute, leaving her belongings behind. “Baba told me to come with him to Mathura. But I didn’t go and run away, leaving all my belongings in the hostel without telling anyone,” she said.

She also claimed that students associated with Chaitanyananda tracked her down, having been provided with her contact details and address. “Baba gave them my number and address. But my father chased them away,” she added.

Police records indicate that Chaitanyananda has a history of evading molestation charges, with cases filed against him in 2009 and 2016. He reportedly used his influence and network to avoid prosecution in those instances.

In the current case, 17 women collectively lodged complaints against him in early August 2025, accusing him of sexual harassment. At the time, Chaitanyananda was believed to be in London but was later traced to Agra. He initially sought anticipatory bail from the Delhi High Court but withdrew the application shortly thereafter.

Delhi Police have since launched extensive raids across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan in an effort to apprehend him.

A Lookout Circular has been issued to prevent Chaitanyananda from fleeing the country, but he remains at large, intensifying concerns about his whereabouts and the safety of potential victims. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting allegations of systemic abuse within the institute and the challenges in holding influential figures accountable.
