The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a countrywide “Seva Pakhwada” lasting over two weeks, from September 17 to October 2, to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Sunday.
Mandaviya noted that the initiative bridges the birthday of PM Modi on September 17 and Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, linking personal celebration with the legacy of national service.
The BJP’s youth wing, Yuva Morcha, will simultaneously organise the 'Namo Yuva Run' across 75 cities, expecting over 10,000 participants at each event. “From September 17 to October 2, from Prime Minister's birthday till Gandhiji's birthday, for 15 days, the country and the BJP organises a seva pakhwada,” Mandaviya told reporters.
He reflected on PM Modi’s vision and contribution, stating, “In 11 years, PM Modi has given a lot to the nation through his work, and thoughts. Today the nation is going forward, developing and a new India is being constructed. PM Modi had told the country from Red Fort, that when the country was fighting for independence, motherland was asking for sacrifice then the youth did not hesitate to give their lives. They went to the noose and fulfilled their duty.”
The Namo Yuva Run, Mandaviya said, will connect the youth with the soil, encourage fitness, and emphasise messages of de-addiction and local self-reliance. “Through this run, the youth will be connected to the soil. The youth will remember the duty done by PM Modi in the last 11 years. To prove the vision of Viksit Bharat it is important to have proper fitness, so that is why Fit India's message will also be given. Swadeshi's (local) message will also be given,” he added.

The Seva Pakhwada will feature blood donation camps across 1,000 districts on September 17, with subsequent camps and cleanliness drives at schools, hospitals, transportation hubs, temples, parks, riversides, and heritage sites running through October 2. District-level workshops are scheduled from September 6–10, followed by Mandal-level workshops from September 11–13.
Mandaviya also praised the upcoming rollout of the ‘next-generation’ GST reforms on September 22, terming it a “Diwali gift” from PM Modi to the nation. “Before 2014, before Modi became Prime Minister, there were a lot of taxes, VAT, excise, there were around 18 types of taxes. In the form of 'One Nation One Tax', Modi simplified the taxes and reduced taxes too,” he said.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture will organise a Painting Competition on the theme of Viksit Bharat, aiming to link students with the vision of PM Modi’s “Viksit Bharat 2047”. Themes include Viksit Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Digital India.
The combined initiatives of service, youth mobilisation, and awareness drives reflect the BJP’s approach to celebrating the Prime Minister’s milestone while fostering civic responsibility and public engagement.
