Chadha appointed chairman of Rajya Sabha petitions committee

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been appointed chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the Upper House, according to an official notification.

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been appointed chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the Upper House, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.

Chadha, who recently moved from the Aam Aadmi Party to the Bharatiya Janata Party, will head the reconstituted panel after Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan nominated 10 members to the committee.

The committee has been reconstituted with effect from May 20, the notification said.


“Raghav Chadha has been appointed chairman of the Committee on Petitions,” the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said.

Besides Chadha, the committee includes Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Jebi Mather Hisham, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary and Sandosh Kumar P.


In a separate notification, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said Chairman C P Radhakrishnan has nominated Dr Menaka Guruswamy as a member of the Joint Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, with effect from May 20.


Meanwhile, a Lok Sabha notification stated that Speaker Om Birla has nominated Arvind Ganpat Sawant to the Joint Committee on the same Bill with effect from May 21.

The reconstitution and new nominations come as part of routine parliamentary panel restructuring ahead of key legislative business in the ongoing session.
