Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Monday took a sharp dig at Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, saying that despite putting in all his efforts during Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra, his leadership was “ignored” by the Congress leader.
Paswan remarked that it was only natural for Tejashwi Yadav to feel upset after being sidelined.
Responding to the RJD leader’s recent statement that “Tejashwi will fight on all 243 seats,” Paswan said, “Bihar’s opposition leader gave his all for Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra. He was even driving Rahul Gandhi’s car. He followed him wherever he was going. Even after doing all this, his leadership was not accepted by the Congress. No due respect was given to him. So it’s natural for him to feel this way.”
Tejashwi Yadav’s comments come ahead of seat-sharing negotiations within the Mahagathbandhan alliance for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The alliance partners are yet to finalise their arrangement as political temperatures rise in the state.

Meanwhile, Paswan also spoke on the controversy surrounding Indian cricketers’ refusal to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts after an Asia Cup fixture. He backed the Indian players’ gesture, linking it to the sentiments of the families of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
“If you are shaking hands with someone and the same people are attacking your family members and killing them, then such pictures could surely upset their feelings. The game had to be played, and our players respected it equally and played that game with the same spirit. By winning, our players definitely respected those victims in a true way,” Paswan said.
Following India’s victory over Pakistan, Captain Suryakumar Yadav and his partner Shivam Dube walked straight back to the dressing room, skipping the customary handshake with the opposition team. Explaining his decision, Suryakumar said, “I feel a few things in life are ahead of sportsman spirit.”
