A cold wave is expected to affect several parts of north India, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Delhi, with cold to severe cold conditions predicted for the next few days, according to the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather forecast.
The IMD has warned of 'Cold Day to Severe Cold Day' conditions in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan for the next two days. These cold conditions are likely to continue in some areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi on January 7 and 8, while cold day conditions are expected in isolated parts of Rajasthan on January 7.
The IMD also forecasts dense to very dense fog in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and western Uttar Pradesh on December 7.
Similar fog conditions are expected in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
Dense fog will likely persist in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, western Rajasthan, and Odisha on January 8, and continue to affect Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh on January 9. Dense fog is also predicted for these areas on January 10 and 11.
In addition to the cold wave, the IMD has also forecasted a fresh spell of rain, with possible thunderstorms or hailstorms, in northwest and central India, especially over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh, between January 8-10.
From January 9 to 10, there is also a possibility of rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, according to the IMD.
