India’s Ministry of Defence signed a deal worth Rs 2,095 crore with the state-run Bharat Dynamics Ltd to procure INVAR Anti-tank Missiles for the Indian Army to enhance the force’s combat capabilities. The deal was closed at a total cost of Rs 2,095.70 crore under the 'Buy (Indian)' category.
"The procurement of the INVAR anti-tank missiles enhances the firepower and lethality of Tank T-90, the mainstay of armoured regiments of the Indian Army," said an official.
"The weapon system is a sophisticated laser-guided anti-tank missile with very high hit probability. It is set to transform the conduct of Mechanised operations and offer operational advantage against the adversary," the MoD further cited in its statement.
Besides this, the ministry had given a contract worth Rs 250 crore to Kalyani (KSSL) for the supply of underwater systems under FTP, and a contract worth Rs 35 crore to Paras Defence for the procurement of anti-drone systems.
Meanwhile, NITI Aayog convened a two-day stakeholder consultation on “Expanding Defence Production for Exports” this week, where the consultation brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, iDEX, MSMEs, start-ups, and consulting experts to deliberate on strategies for advancing defence production, manufacturing and export reforms to strengthen country's global defence footprint.
