Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta takes a holy dip in the Ganga river at Har Ki Pauri, in Haridwar.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by her family, visited Haridwar on Sunday and took a holy dip at the sacred Har Ki Pauri ghat in the Ganga river. Following the ritual, CM Gupta expressed her spiritual resolve and administrative commitment, stating that with the blessings of Maa Ganga, she and her government would work to transform the Yamuna into a clean and beautiful river and accelerate the pace of Delhi's development. “Taking the blessings of Maa, I feel very satisfied that as the Chief Minister of Delhi, I will be able to do better work for Delhi,” she said.

A day earlier, on Saturday, Chief Minister Gupta had performed the Yamuna Aarti at Vasudev Ghat in Delhi to mark 100 days of the BJP-led government in the national capital. Joined by party members and supporters, she led the spiritual ceremony, offering prayers and reaffirming the government's commitment to rejuvenating the Yamuna.

Addressing the gathering at the ghat, CM Gupta declared, “The Delhi government and the city's residents have taken the decision to clean the River Yamuna. Social workers will also be part of this.” She stressed the collective effort and community participation in this mission, positioning it as a priority for her administration.

Taking aim at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Gupta alleged that her predecessors made false claims about cleaning the Yamuna and failed to take any concrete steps. She accused them of misleading the public and neglecting the river's condition during their tenure.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister participated in the ‘100 Din Seva Ke’ programme, commemorating the BJP government’s 100 days in office in Delhi. During the event, she sharply criticised the previous administration, accusing it of drifting from its original promises.

Referring to the anti-corruption movement that began at Ramlila Maidan, Gupta said, “When the movement started from Ramlila Maidan, thousands and lakhs of people joined it — I joined too, others also joined. Everyone supported it, thinking something better would happen in Delhi and the country. Those people who used to say that they are not greedy for power became so greedy that they could not see anything except power.”

She further emphasised that unlike the previous government, her cabinet, MLAs, and public representatives are working actively at the grassroots level. “My cabinet, our MLAs, all the public representatives continuously work on the streets among the people,” she said. Chief Minister Gupta also took a strong stance against the former AAP government for allegedly questioning the valour and integrity of India’s Armed Forces, adding another layer to her criticism of their leadership and approach to governance.
