The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has called upon AAP Minister Atishi to attend a hearing on June 29 in response to a defamation case filed by BJP's Praveen Shankar Kapoor. The case concerns Atishi's remarks accusing the BJP of pressuring AAP legislators to defect.

In April, the BJP served a defamation notice to Atishi after she claimed she was coerced into joining the party or facing Enforcement Directorate (ED) action within a month.

Atishi launched a counterattack against the BJP, questioning their tactics in forming governments in various states without securing a majority. She also raised concerns about leaders joining the BJP and seeing their legal troubles disappear.

She highlighted instances like Praful Patel's joining the BJP resulting in the closure of cases related to the Air India scam. Atishi criticised the BJP's "Operation Lotus" and demanded answers regarding their governance strategies.

In response, BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj condemned Atishi's statements as defamatory. Swaraj emphasised that Atishi must be held accountable for her allegations and will have to address them in court.

Swaraj criticised AAP's tendency to make unfounded accusations and evade accountability. She highlighted the court's summons to Atishi and emphasised the need for clarification regarding her earlier remarks and tweets accusing the BJP. Atishi is expected to present her stance during the court proceedings on June 29.
