The Special Cell of Delhi Police has dismantled an espionage network allegedly operating from the national capital and arrested a 59-year-old man identified as Mohammad Adil Hussaini, also known by the aliases Syed Adil Hussain and Nasimuddin.
A resident of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Hussaini is accused of spying and forging documents to pass sensitive national information to foreign intelligence agencies.
Officials said the accused had been under close watch for several weeks after central intelligence units alerted Delhi Police about his suspicious activities and frequent foreign trips.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Hussaini had allegedly procured multiple Indian passports using forged documents and had travelled abroad under various identities for several years.
During a raid, the Special Cell reportedly seized one genuine Indian passport and two forged ones from his possession. The documents have been sent for forensic examination to determine how they were fabricated and whether any officials played a role in their issuance.
Preliminary findings indicate that Hussaini was part of a larger spy network and was not working alone. Police suspect he was in contact with his brother, Akhtar Hussaini, who is also under investigation.
The two allegedly shared classified or sensitive information with foreign handlers in exchange for money.
Sources revealed that Adil Hussaini maintained regular communication with several foreign nationals through encrypted channels. His overseas trips are being thoroughly examined to establish the identities of his contacts and the purpose behind his visits.

“Adil Hussaini was arrested on October 26 and remanded to seven days of police custody,” confirmed a senior police official. “Interrogation is underway to uncover the full extent of the espionage operation and identify those within and outside India who may have aided him.”
The Special Cell, working in coordination with central intelligence agencies, is currently analysing money trails, communication records, and digital data linked to the case.
Investigators are also probing how Hussaini managed to obtain multiple forged passports and whether a wider document-forging racket was involved.
Officials said the case could have serious national security implications if the accused’s links with foreign operatives are confirmed.
“We are verifying the nature of the information that was leaked and assessing any possible threat to the country’s security interests,” an investigator said.
